My Ipod Case is a Prize Winner!

A screenshot of my winning project photo on marthastewart.com
You can check out the rest of the winners in the photo gallery.
I designed this crocheted Ipod Case last year for the nano 1+2, right before the nano 3 came out (the tiny square model).
It is fully functional so you can use it while it's tucked away safely inside...
Now that the new nano 4 is back to the original design similar to the nano 1+2 (tall and slim)I plan on making a new case with the crochet pattern due to be released this Fall 2009.
Oh, my free copy of The Encyclopedia Of Crafts book arrived yesterday, thanks Martha!

Oh what a little paint can do...

I had two oak picture frames that were in desperate need of a makeover... They were the dollar store variety that came with a paper print of yucky pink and country blue flowers glued behind the frame. Removing the paper print destroyed the paper, but the frames were perfectly salvageable. A little sand paper and a little black craft paint gave them new life! I think a simple 4x6 illustration will fit these nicely :)

Dissed by Artfire

I don't like to spend my time ranting on my blog about all of life's little annoyances... however, I'm a bit put-off by Artfire's recent front page remodel.

In the original version of the front page, all items recently listed were given relatively equal exposure... now, I see that Design/Media items and Supplies/Vintage (which I see no reason to group together), are squished into a much smaller area to the right...

smaller space + smaller pics = disrespect. I pay monthly for a verified account and I should have the same opportunities for exposure as all of the other verified users, regardless of what I sell and how my items are categorized. All of my patterns are handmade even though they are "design/media" items, and lots of sellers offer supplies that are handmade, which are now poo pooed into the Supplies/Vintage category too! Grrrr.

I'm sorry but I'm a little bent out of shape over this Artfire. This is how mis-tagging and category abuse starts.

The only upside is that it seems that the Design/Media category has less listings so the recently listed items get to be seen a bit longer than the quick rotation of the "handmade" tangible items... but dang-it, I want equal sized pics!!!

Renegade Goodies

The Renegade Fair @ McCarren Park in Brooklyn was a nice time. Here are my goodies...
This cotton canvas bunny lunch bag from:
The Argyle Whale
+
a typewriter key necklace from:
The Weekend Store
I forgot to take pictures because it was really crowded and I was busy visiting all the neat booths, but if you saw me, I was the chick with the black tank, cargo pants and red stained lips from eating a cherry italian ice... Apparently everyone else knew better and got the pineapple and coconut non-staining flavors :P

It's a Major Award!

Well maybe not as major as a plastic leg lamp, but I'm certainly giddy over it...

I entered a Calling All Crafters photo contest on MarthaStewart.com and...

I am a WINNER!

One of 10 to be exact, to win a copy of Martha's new book:
Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Crafts

...and out of thousands of entries, not to mention it was a judged contest... well, I'm pretty darn psyched :D

I submitted a few crafty project photos and strangely, I'm not even sure which photo won for me.

So, next month when my winning photo is featured on the Martha Stewart site, I'll be sure to blog an update...

In the interim, check out the Etsy Storque article,
Behind the Scenes with Marcie McGoldrick from Martha Stewart.
